Who We Are

Founded in , CLAW is one of the largest leather and kink non-profit organizations in the nature. We produce two major annual events: CLAW Cleveland each April and Leather Thanksgiving in Los Angeles each November. Our mission includes:

  • Promote adult leather, fetish, and BDSM interests as natural and healthy
  • Support peer-to-peer education and mentorship
  • Create events that reflect and uplift the diversity of our community

What We Do

CLAW hosts immersive, educational events with over workshops annually, hands-on kink demonstrations, world-class VendorMarts, socials, health & wellness services, and inclusive community programming. We provide:

  • Volunteer opportunities and mentorship
  • Professional CEUs through CARAS and expert panels
  • Art shows in partnership with Tom of Finland Foundation

    Why was there never a big leather S&M scene for straights?

    I’m a straight guy, but I will admit that the whole '70s/early 80s pre-AIDs era of lgbtq+ culture fascinates me. The “Tom of Finland” aspects of the scene with its quasi-Fascist imagery; the leather S&M scene with its emphasis on authority, dominance and free sex. I’ve always enjoyed the film *Cruising *both as a period piece of vintage NYC, as a curiosity, and an absorbing insight in a adorable much deceased subculture.

    That said, why did no similar scene develop among straights? I mean, the thought of a ‘leather bar’, for example, is still a very gay thought, I don’t think you’d find many straight leather bars or ‘leather daddies’ who are straight.
