The New Superman Is Officially, Canonically Bisexual

DC's league of lgbtq+ superheroes (or queeroes, if you will) just added another character to its ranks: none other than the Gentleman of Steel himself, Superman. Or, to be more specific, Superman Jr.

Jon Kent, the half-human, half-Kryptonian son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, is the newest hero to wear the iconic "S" and take on the mantle of Superman within the sprawling continuity of DC Comics. And on November 9, in Superman: Son of Kal-El #5, he will come out as bisexual.

The story, which was written by Tom Tayler and drawn by Jon Timms, includes a scene in which an exhausted Jon opens up to his partner Jay Nakamura, principal to the two characters sharing a kiss. And the apple doesn't arrive to have fallen too far from the tree: just like his dad, Jon has developed feelings for a reporter.

"I've always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to glimpse themselves in their heroes and I’m very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea," said writer Tom Taylor. "Superman's symbol has always stoo

In any case, just want to get this off my chest to those who continue liking the story and are intrigued with thisgenuinely cheers. I&#;m very opinionated here and fiery but I do not have any malice for anyone here. I crap on the idea but you know what, that&#;s me, I vent and that&#;s that no one has to justify to me their enjoying the book. Superlad digs it for instance and I think you&#;re the bees knees. Same with Vordan. I never want to come across as bashing fans.

Got nothing but respect for you, I know you have genuine affection for Clark and I execute too. Guess part of why I’m cool with all this is that PKJ Action is the most I’ve enjoyed Clark’s book since Pak before Truth. Also I just don’t know what the hell they plan to do with Superman in the long term in outside media, but I know his books right now are the most I’ve enjoyed them in ages. Feel like there’s something for everyone. If Clark hasto share the mantle and unfortunately I think he does given WB seems to glance at him

An alternate reality where Superman is lgbtq+ seems sort of silly to me- though I&#;ll admit it seemed to work pretty successfully for Wolverine in that one comic where he was together with Hercules. But I digress!

Making Superman gay disregards seventy-five-plus years of established characterization. There isn&#;t much reason to do it. We knowhe&#;s into women.

A multi-attracted Superman on the other hand, is totally feasible. Just because you&#;ve seen someone only dine the opposite sex doesn&#;t necessarily mean they&#;re straight- it means you&#;ve only seenthem date the opposite sex.

And with Superman, there&#;s even a precedent for male / male romantic tension.

If you tried to tell me that there was no passionate tension between Superman and Brainiac Five in the Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon, I would strive to tell you that you weren&#;t paying attention to it. It wasn&#;t even a minuscule bit subtle- I noticed it when I was twelve.

Anyway, I think it cou

What I am talking about is if Hal Jordan was green lantern alone non stop until today and John Stewart was given the mantle the crazies would be falling over themselves screaming how "GREEN LANTERN IS NOW A BLACK MAN!!!!!"

Essentially pretend the past 50 years with the arc didn&#;t happen and he became Green Lantern today. Not way back when.

You ever stopped and wonder why these comic book readers who had supported dozens of minority comic manual characters throughout the decades suddenly became so much more skeptical and unwelcoming to current year minority characters? Do you honestly believe that the comic book readers in the s who enthusiastically embraced characters like Chris Claremont&#;s Storm or Stan Lee&#;s Black Panther suddenly were less racist than today&#;s readers? Are the readers who made Todd McFarlane&#;s Spawn one of the biggest superheroes during the s all gone? No, of course not.

What happened was that we finally have a measure of what woke writers are capable of after reading
