Every year in August, the Canal Parade Amsterdam Pride is held on the Canals of Amsterdam. This colourful celebration will be held for the 29th time in and was formerly known as the Gay Parade. Nowadays, the Canal Pride is a colourful party where everyone can be themselves and the event is one of the biggest events on the Amsterdam canals.

About the Amsterdam Canal Parade
The world-famous Canal Parade through the canals of Amsterdam is one of the highlights of Pride Amsterdam. The parade consists of around eighty boats representing everything from miniature LGBTQI+ foundations to pink networks within multinational companies. They all sail through the city canals to celebrate the past, introduce and future of the LGBTQI+ community in lavishly decorated boats and sloops. And to demonstrate that it doesnt matter who or what you are.

Pride Amsterdam is a festival to rejoice that you can 'be who you are, love who you want'. This festival is mainly celebrated by the LHBTQI community from the last Saturday in July until the first Sunday in August and consists of several components. The most famous part is the Canal Procession, in which a procession of 80 boats cruise through the waters of Amsterdam for 2 hours, which is visited by hundreds of thousands of colourfully dressed visitors. Other parts of the Pride are: Pride Walk, Self-acceptance Park, Open Wind Cinema, Senior Parade Concert, All Colours East, Love Snorkel, street parties and a closing party. The Route
The parade kicks off around PM at the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum), in the eastern part of the city centre. From there, the boats will sail along the Amstel River, continuing onto the Prinsengracht, and concluding near the Westerdok.
Please note: First boats reach the start of the Prinsengracht approximately after the official start.

The parade direction stretches several kilometers, offering many fantastic spots to watch the spectacle. However, it gets extremely busy—especially on bridges and quays—so plan to arrive early.
