‘Be who you are’: St. Pete Pride Festival draws over , people in celebration of love

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg had hundreds of thousands of people celebrating Pride at its 23rd annual Pride Festival.

The St. Pete Pride Festival is considered to be the largest in Florida. Organizers reported that more than , people attended the event.
 
"This is probably the biggest I've seen it," said Jamiel Arth, an attendee.

Many showed up decked out in rainbow gear and waving colorful flags.

"Love is love," said Bryant Nugent, an attendee.

For many, Pride is about love, peace, and feeling at home.

"It's important to honor so that they see advocacy, so I know that there's other people out there appreciate me, so I don't experience so alone in the world," said Alexis Kimbrell, an attendee.

"Pride means for me, I intend, it's who I am, really," said Bri Teixeira, an attendee.

St. Pete Pride Month reaches its zenith with this weekend’s calendar of events, including the indisputable highlight: The largest Pride parade in the State of Florida.

Pride ’s big weekend begins with Friday’s concert from singer and rapper Durand Bernarr at Jannus Live. Bernarr, enthused Pride President Byron Green-Calisch, is “an absolutely phenomenal R&B artist. We are going back to late ‘90s, soon s, that feel-good R&B music. He’s been on NPR’s Tiny Desk … just come out and enjoy the vibe with an absolute powerhouse of a voice.” (Concert tickets are here.)

Saturday’s march, the 23rd in city history, is expected to take out somewhere in the neighborhood of , LGBTQ+ supporters. It steps off at 6 p.m., south on Bayshore Drive by Albert Whitted Airport, and proceeds northward past the Mahaffey Theater, Al Lang Stadium and both South and North Straub Parks, finishing up in the shadow of the Vinoy Resort.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A celebration of value and unity is coming to downtown St. Petersburg as the St. Pete Pride Parade and Festival takes place on Saturday, June 28, and Sunday, June The event draws in a crowd of over , attendees and is one of the largest Pride events nationwide.

If you’re heading to the festivities, here are some tips on parking, transportation, safety, and how to prepare for the weekend.

The events kick off on Saturday at North Straub and South Straub Parks at 2 p.m. North
Straub Park will have a variety of local vendors, food trucks, a DJ, and a beer garden. North and South Straub Parks will host the main entertainment stages. These events are free and open to the public.

A Trans March will launch in Vinoy Park at p.m., followed by the St. Pete Pride March, which starts at 6 p.m. from Albert Whitted Park north to Vinoy Park along Bayshore Drive.
