The Abbey is a local icon and the most famous of West Hollywood's nightlife venues. LA has plenty to offer in terms on LGBTQ-friendly events, queer owned spaces such as art galleries and coffee shops, and of course a multitude of restaurants and nightspots.

This appropriately named bar is located just across Pacific Coast Highway from the shore and it sports a nautical theme, boat hull facade to boot. It's a bit of a hidden gem, run by Hollywood nightlife impresario John Terzian with craft cocktails developed by Vincenzo Marianella but tucked away in a location that prevents it from ever becoming too much of a scene. It is also one of the not many places to get a decent drink in the Palisades, given that the only liquor license in the Palisades proper is at a mediocre pan-Asian restaurant. While Shore Prevent now primarily serves the upscale crowd of NoMo Santa Monica, it has a rich history as one of the oldest gay bars in Los Angeles. Once called the SS Friendship and frequented by gay beachgoers across PCH at Will Rogers Beach, the bar was fictionalized in Christopher Isherwood's A Single Man as the "Starboard Side" lock (and used as a location in the recent film). Try "The Members Only" cocktail, and attempt out the photo booth on the back patio.

Gauntlet II was in operation for 21 years. Then, in the summer of Charlie and business partner Vince decided to buy the bar with the intention of making a label change. In April , Eagle LA was born, or, reborn as it may be. There was an original Eagle LA located in West Hollywood at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax. It operated for 15 years and closed in Although that Eagle is of no relation to Charlie or Vince, they are proud to reestablish the Eagle LA and become the latest in a long line of Eagle bars in cities throughout the US and around the planet. In January , The Eagle was one of several LGBTQ businesses to raise funds to stop permanent closure
