David bowie bisexual

For people saying David Bowie does not belong in Pride month (I never thought I’d see this)

To those bashing David Bowie as not “belonging” in Pride month “because he was straight” and saying that he “came out as straight” in , please remember the following.

1.  David Bowie also said he didn’t like to be quoted, especially in the early 80s because he knew he contradicted himself a lot. (Source: The book David Bowie: in his own words, published in  Ironic, no?)  Every few years he invented a new persona or stage identity and it just so happened his early 80s self was supposedly straight. They were like characters he became.  And they all had names.  Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Thomas Jerome Newton / The Slim White Duke, The Earthling…   Ziggy, by the way, was openely bisexual.

2.  Mick Jagger has admitted he and Bowie were lovers. (It was a drawn-out time rumor eventually confirmed by Mick Jagger that yes, they slept together while David Bowie was still married to Angie Bowie).

3.   Later during Bowie’s marriage to Iman David Bowie admitted to always having a sexual attr

How David Bowie’s “I’m Gay” Interview Helped Redefine Sexuality

Fabulous, indeed. A little more than a month on from the release of Hunky Dory, Bowie had discarded the Marlene Dietrich-inspired look he sported on its sleeve, even though his interview with Melody Maker was ostensibly to promote that record. Moving with increasing speed, he now dressed in occupied Ziggy Stardust Mk I regalia: quilted jumpsuit; shorn, spiky hair “Vidal Sassooned into such impeccable shape”; and bright red boots which would soon straddle the world. His alternative coloured eyes only enhanced his otherworldly appearance. Bowie was just a week away from making his debut Ziggy Stardust production, at Friars Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire, just outside of London, and his “I’m gay” admission to Melody Maker perfectly laid the groundwork for future shocks to come.

Watts noted Bowie’s follow-up comments: “It’s just so happened, he remarks, that in the past two years people have loosened up to the fact that there are bisexuals in the world – ‘and – horrible fact – homosexuals’.” This jab at leadership figur

david bowie wasn’t bi.  he came out as bisexual, but later admitted he lied and that he regretted it.  not only are his documented relationships with women, but:

said he was gay

in playboy, said  “It’s true—I am a double attraction. But I can’t deny that I’ve used that truth very well. I suppose it’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

in rolling stone, said “his public announcement of bisexuality was ‘the biggest mistake I ever made’ and ‘I was always a closet heterosexual’.”

“[H]e said his interest in lgbtq+ and bisexual society had been more a product of the times and the situation in which he set up himself than his own feelings; as described by Buckley, he said he had been driven more by ‘a compulsion to flout moral codes than a real organic and psychological express of being.’” x

he pretended to be gay and multi-attracted to get attention and appear fundamental.  he’s not a bisexual icon any more than james franco is a gay one.

i realize that we’re not supposed to denounce people of faking bisexuality but [as a bisexual person] i’m exhausted.  people

Why is the press completely ignoring that Bowie was bisexual?

R56 is right. In he came out in a British magazine as GAY. He said he'd always been gay and that it was not one of his personas. He was known in London as gayhe bopped around everywhere in flimsy dresses. He liked rough trade. After he started getting more famous, and got heavily into drugs, he started sleeping with everything, including 13 year old kids.

In , as the world was becoming more conservative and the HIV/AIDS crisis was claiming lives, he told Rolling Stone magazine he was straight, and that his 'bisexuality' was basically just a phase.

I never understood the worship for Bowie. He was fascinating for five minutes, then turned into a drugged up mess. Then in the 80s he turned into a character from Miami Vice, with those dreadful linen suits.

Plus there was the Nazi thing he flirted with, plus the rape accusation in Philadelphia. He was better off being gay. He spent a lot of his life trying to closet himself, and it fucked him up royally.
